Hope I’m not too late! Well, obviously I am.

It’s bordering December and I just got my copy of House of Leaves this evening. And I know it’s out of place to post my first bookface here when everyone’s been writing (and raving) about the book, but better late than never! I’m already in chapter 5, and all I can say is that I’ll be up all night. This book is really addicting.

I’ve already have read this book, and it’s brilliant, but being the sort of person who can’t stand the feeling of knowing what happens next when rereading books (or reading a really bad book) I don’t think I’ll be rereading this tome. However, I’ll still post a picture to show that I’m still a part of this lovely group. For everyone who hasn’t read House of Leaves before, it’s extremely long and a labyrinth of a book, but it’s worth the read.

Starting out with my own bookface! I thought it would be interesting to start reading the introduction last night. Worst Idea In The World. My sleep was fitful and this book is the culprit. Of course, I could just have been psyching myself out is all.

Finally got a copy of the Blind Assassin (which was the last one that NBS Superstore Cubao has) after a week of looking for it. My very late virgin bookface - though I do not seem like it at all in the pic (I mean a virgin). This is my first bookface and first read-along; just excuse the fact that I look a bit like a spaz. 

Instead of a book face, this is Demo being wistful by the window, contemplating the possible meaning of Margaret Atwood’s The Blind Assassin. 

I’ve been struggling with the book for almost two weeks now like some of you guys. While I find the pulpy romance and world building of The Blind Assassin, that is the novel within the novel, I find most events a tedious. Although I enjoy reading about the lives of the Chase family, it’s still a struggle most of the time. I’m not even sure where the narrative is going. 

I’m less than a hundred pages into the book. I guess I’ll soldier on. 

I just picked up a copy of The Blind Assassin  from the library and I’ll be perfectly honest, I’m not very interested in it. With all the added schoolwork to put on top of that, please don’t be angry with me if you never see a review from me.

My copy of the book looks like a mini-Bible and that scares me a bit because commitment-wise, finishing fat books doesn’t rank high on my list of accomplishments. But, so far so good. I love the blurb and this mix of an affair with science fiction just makes it hard not to think about it!

First bookface, first read-along. Hi!

The blurb says The Blind Assassin “combines gothic drama, romantic suspense, and a science fiction yarn.” Actually the blurb says a lot of things, but when I hit that part I was pretty much sold. 

Hi, I’m Andy! Long time follower, first bookface, and first time reading along.

A few weeks ago I checked out some books and they were due on Tuesday—which just so happened to be when The Blind Assassin was due for pick-up—and of course I couldn’t find them until they were two days late. But I’ve got it now!

With the extra week added, I will hopefully have enough time to read The Blind Assassin on much needed literary breaks from uni reading. I’m very excited to read this book!

My book (well, technically, the library’s) and my face.

I’m quite the lazy reader, but that’s why I ultimately decided to join this community - to fix that, to read more often. So hopefully I’ll manage to finish this book along with everyone else in the community; the extra week should definitely help. :)
